From Open Water and Advanced training through to Stress and Rescue, specialty courses and professional-level training, Sound Diving NZ offers high-quality SSI scuba training in small groups or by private instruction, allowing training to be tailored to your experience, confidence and individual goals.
While Milford Sound / Fiordland is our primary operating location, Sound Diving’s Instructor Lance has been a Southern Lakes resident for 30 years. Queenstown remains our established location for providing Open Water learn-to-dive courses, utilising Alpine Aqualand pool and Lake Wakatipu for entry-level Dive training.
Good visibility, safe training environments and ease of access makes Queenstown a great place to become scuba certified, building skills and confidence to progress into Fiordland’s world-class marine environment.
Open Water Courses
Queenstown / Milford Sound - Nov & Dec 2026, $1500.
Limited to just four trainee divers.
2 x Queenstown pool + Lake Wakatipu training days, followed by a Milford Sound boat diving day trip to complete your internationally recognised Open Water Certification in the finest local waters.
Includes all required equipment rental, SSI online learning materials, SSI certification, comprehensive instruction and boat diving costs.
